The OceanServer Iver2 UUVs using MOOS-IvP demo'ed at Talisman Sabre 2011.

SHOALWATER BAY TRAINING AREA, Queensland, Australia (July 11, 2011) – Dr. Michael Incze and Mr. Scott Sideleau of the U.S. Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI participated in Exercise Talisman Sabre 2011 (TS11) with three Naval Special Warfare (NSW) configured OceanServer Iver2 Autonomous Undersea Vehicles (AUVs). The single-human portable devices, which provide undersea reconnaissance for amphibious military operations, were equipped with a payload computers running the MOOS-IvP autonomy architecture and the backseat interface application iOceanServerComms, which provided the platforms with the capability to autonomously and adaptively map bathymetric contours of interest in the given littoral environment. The AUVs were also used to collect SONAR imagery and environmental data to supplement the beach assault exercise planning effort. TS11 is a biennial combined training exercise designed to train Australian and U.S. forces in planning and conducting Combined Task Force operations to improve Australian Defence Force/U.S. combat readiness and interoperability. It reflects the closeness of the alliance and the strength and flexibility of the ongoing military-military relationship.
