Initial Provisions / Getting Started:

The starting provisions consist of (a) a baseline mission and (b) documentation including formal competition rules, general software documentation and tutorials for newcomers.

Baseline Mission:

A baseline mission will be distributed to participants, consisting of a small MOOS-IvP with tree example MOOS modules and MOOS mission files for solving the hazard search problem. This tree is the form of a complete working, syntactically valid competition submission. The search and reporting algorithms however are naive and the vehicles do not coordinate at all. It will not fare well in competitions in its initial form. The purpose of this baseline mission is to reduce the threshold for getting started and to help clarify the format required for competition entries.

Documentation:

  • Formal competition description: here
  • Training labs will be posted, modeled after MIT 2.680 to, to provide a graduated sequence of exercises for new users of MOOS-IvP (Posted May 10th).
  • General documentation for MOOS and MOOS-IvP, at www.moos-ivp.org/docs.

Baseline Mission Preview:

A preview of the two-vehicle baseline mission is shown below. The full baseline code and mission structure will be posted on May 10th.
