Talk-07: Towards Autonomous Inland Shipping in Flanders

The socio-economic motivation and technological challenges of making the Belgian Inland WaterWays’ vessels (IWW) autonomous. This growing need of innovation and automation in the IWW sector has become one of the main research areas of the Intelligent Mobile Platforms (IMP) research group of Campus Group T, KU Leuven. The presentation will discuss IMP’s current and future research projects, and their experimental vessels, regarding autonomous inland shipping with a focus on the usability of the MOOS-IvP software to orchestrate the movements on the water.
