Michael E. West, Tom Collins, Michael Novitzky, Kevin DeMarco, Paul Robinette, Andrew Melim, Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI).
The Yellowfin is a man-portable unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) designed for scientific and military missions by the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). The Yellowfin version 1.0 was presented at MOOS-DAWG 2010. We present our latest Yellowfin, version 2.0, which is slightly longer allowing for double the battery capacity of the original and the inclusion of 900 MHZ RF, wifi, and GPS. These additions have allowed for missions that the Yellowfin was not capable of performing previously. The presentation will cover the transition of Yellowfin from protected pool lab testing to fielded robots performing missions in a lake.
